~ The Happiness Tag ~

I want to thank Wendy of Brilliance Within for tagging me to complete and forward this ‘Happiness Tag’ and hey the rules are easy. Write about 5 things that make me happy, 5 songs that make me happy and nominate 5 ‘happy’ bloggers to complete the tag too…okay here goes:

Preface:  God, my family, my friends and my home are what make me happiest first and foremost.  I have decided to venture in another direction with this and tell you of other simple things that put a big ole smile on this happy face…

  1. Each night, around 9 pm, I open a pint of Haagen Dazs Chocolate Chocolate Chip Ice Cream, dig in and forget about my day for a little while.  Mmmm the creaminess, the chocolate, the crunching of the chips and there are lots and lots of chips. Happiness Tag It’s decadent and delightful and it makes me yummy HAPPY!
  2. Every Friday night when I go to bed knowing that “tomorrow” is Saturday and that brief moment when I wake up Saturday morning thinking…hmmm what day is it today and realize it’s Saturday, that makes me peacefully and excitedly HAPPY!
  3. I have, for the second time this season, a bird’s nest within the wreath hanging on my front door.  I sit here on my couch and I can see the birds through the glass on my door, bobbing around.  Yesterday I watched Daddy feed Mommy while Mommy was sitting on 4 eggs keeping them safe and warm.  Each day they sing their love songs.  Watching and hearing them makes me adoringly HAPPY!
  4. When someone leaves a comment that they have been inspired by my post or it helped brighten their day, is the best.  I love when others comment on what they are grateful for.  I love when I get inspired with an idea.  The fact that you are reading this right now, all of these things make me feel very blessed and HAPPY!
  5. Watching reality ghost stories on tv.  I love the paranormal.  I love mystical, magical things.  I love tarot cards and horoscopes, full moons, pendulums and mediums, having my future told, learning about crystals and smudging.  If I could spend the day immersed in this, it would make me enchantingly HAPPY!

Now Five Songs That Make Me Happy:

  1. Daddy’s Little Girl, by Al Martino – the very first 45 rpm vinyl record I ever bought when I was about 8.  I could not wait until my Dad got home from work so I could play it for him…
  2. Happy Birthday, by Mildred & Patty Hill (sisters) – whether it’s being sung to me or I’m singing it…
  3. The Best Day, by Taylor Swift – a loving tribute from a daughter to her mother…
  4. Uptown Funk – Mark Ronson, ft. Bruno Mars – I have to dance whenever and wherever I hear this…
  5. Roll out the Barrel – Reminds me of my sister and I twirling around the dance floor at weddings when we were young and laughing so hard our sides hurt…

Finally I get to “tag” 5 more happy bloggers.  I have so many of you in mind, but I know some prefer not to do this kind of blogging and that’s fine.  For the Happy Bloggers I did select it’s totally optional as to whether you want to do this or not.

Hayley who runs between two sites Dear Dad and Beat the Binge

Shiva who is always thinking over at The Shivas Ponder

Michelle who is on summer vacation now, lucky lady, can be found relaxing at Two Are Better Than One

Minaxi who is spending her summer in NYC and when not touring is at Gameplan Happily Ever After

Stephanae who knows what real beauty & happiness is all about at Bold Blind Beauty

I’m tagging you to share your HAPPINESS…but of course only if it makes you HAPPY!!  🙂

  2. YUMM, Haagen Dazs! I love that a bird has built a nest in the wreath on your door and the male bird is feeding her while she lays on the eggs! What kind of birds are they? I didn’t realize birds built nests so close to humans! Lovely post, Deb!

    • Thanks PJ and it’s the second nest with birds and eggs. After the first ones flew the nest I took the wreath down because the birds had made quite a mess and I threw it away. About a week later I put up another one that I had and not long after they built another nest and now there are 4 eggs in it. I’m not sure they are either finch’s or sparrows…but they are soooo cute!! It’s really sweet. 🙂 I love that they are there and inside the house I tip toe around near that door and I won’t open it or use it at all, so as to not disturb them.

    • I have never heard of sparrows doing that so I think it might be a finch. How neat! That must be a fun thing to see and watch as the eggs hatch and the birds grow and fly the nest. How lucky!

    • It really is. I don’t know much about bird species, so you are probably right. On Monday my driveway is getting removed and a new one put in. It’s cement and they will be jack-hammering it to remove it, I’m sure it will scare away the Mom while they are working. Do you know how long eggs can go uncovered by the Mom’s heat?

      Like

    • No, I have no idea and truthfully, I don’t know anything about finches. I know a little about sparrows because we have so many here.

  3. I also was really surprised that birds made nests in your wreath twice this season. There must be something about it that makes it really appealing to them.

    • I know, right? I live on a quiet street and there’s a porch about 10′ long with an overhang where my front door is, so maybe they like the seclusion…but I have never seen anything like it before. I’m really enjoying it even though they’re rather messy…I have a lot of twigs on the porch in front of the door. And when I removed the first wreath there were a lot of bird droppings that needed cleaning up…but it was all worth it! 🙂

  7. The simple things can be the absolute best!! I haven’t tried Haagen Dazs Chocolate Chocolate Chip Ice Cream but for as long as I can remember chocolate chip has been my favorite until I found chocolate mint chip – YUM. Great answers that made me smile, well, except for the last one b/c I’m a scaredy cat hahaha.

    • Oooohhh you should try it…it’s delish!! My Mom’s a lover of Mint Chocolate Chip too!! I can be a scaredy cat..I’ll watch them and then be afraid to turn off the lights, or jump at every little noise or shadow! But it doesn’t deter me…heehee 🙂

  8. I must say that you have pointed out how the little things in life can make us very happy! I can relate to all of yours but the ghost stories! 😀 I would replace that one with star gazing on the flybridge of Imagine Too! And I will always love Roll out the Barrel! 😍 Right now I’m on my way to DC with my Safety Patrol kids again! Teri is at the cabin with Coda! Kinda wish I was there! Oh well, enjoy the rest of your Sunday! 😉. Xoxoxo, Donna

Just thinking about Roll out the Barrel cracks me up. I know, I saw Teri’s post that you were on your way to DC and she & Coda to the cabin. I would definitely go with the cabin too…oh well! Have a safe trip, enjoy the kids and the sights. I’m going to give Dad a call shortly! Be good – sorry I never caught up with you last weekend, will try again. After this trip the summer’s yours, isn’t it? I hope so. Love you!! xoxoxo 🙂

  10. Fabulous Deb – I love this post. Haggendaz – mmm naughty but Very Nice! How fab to have the birds nest in full view – that’s amazing and I’m not surprised it makes you feel ‘happy’. We had a lovely pair of blackbirds nesting in our garden but very sadly the nest was raided by a horrid Magpie despite my husbands best efforts to frighten the Magpie away (short of a gun which we don’t possess!), all the babies were lost… (sorry that’s not a very happy thing to write on your happy post is it.. ) however, it did make me realise what an amazing thing life/nature is and the real connection we have with all creatures large and small. Ahhh – Saturdays – yep can’t agree more and having worked shifts for many years that included weekends/nights etc. now that I don’t have that I REALLY appreciate that amazing Saturday morning feeling!
My sister is a medium (she lives next door) and I learn lots of lovely spiritual things through her love of spirituality and all things connected with it, so I can totally appreciate your happiness with this too..
Yep – Bruno Mars – you really can’t help dancing to that one – my granddaughters love this record too so it’s one we all dance to as well!
Thanks so much for completing this tag and sharing your happiness – I love it! xxx

    • Thank you Wendy, it was so fun to do. I was reading about birds and it said even after they leave they nest only half will survive the first year, that surprised me. Yes the ice cream is my indulgence, mmmm. I look forward to every day being Saturday!! I would love to meet your sister, I always wished I was a Medium. I so enjoyed this tag, thanks again for tagging me!! Hope you are having a fabulous day!! xo

    • Brilliant – thanks Deb – you’re right though my aim is to enjoy every day likes it’s a Saturday as I’m sick of being in a period where I was wishing the weeks away through to weekends. I’ve taken some much needed but temporary ‘time out’ from work and when I return it will definitely be with a different ethos. My sister is one of life’s true characters and I am blessed to have her living close by and thus able to enjoy her creativity and spirituality.. I’m having a brilliant day and hope you are too! x

    • Today is the Summer Solstice and a Strawberry Full Moon a perfect time for moving with new plans…highly energetic! So if you have any ideas that you would like to pursue today and tomorrow are a great time to start!! The momentum will be with you. I too need a much needed time out from work, as I also wish away the weeks…I know of what you speak. The best I’m going to be able to do is my vacation, at this point I’ll take. So say your thank yous to the sun and the moon and focus on your new adventure!! xo

    • Wow – that’s lovely Deb. I’m definitely starting out on a new journey. It’s funny because I woke up this morning with an idea for a new blog and bought a new domain name which fits in with ‘moving forward with plans’ ! … I’m definitely going to thank the moon and the sun and focus on a new adventure. I send Angel Blessings to you on your journey too and hope you manage to get a much deserved ‘break’ very soon.. In the meantime, create your own sense of vacation at home… xx
