    • My parents are visiting from Florida, they arrived June 30, they went up to Maine on July 5, on July 6 my Mom fell and cracked her hip. She was in the hospital for a week. They arrived her on July 11. I was on vacation that first week and she was 24/7 care, the second week she was doing better and each day she has been progressing, walking but she needs the aid of a walker, she’s able to get in and out of chairs pretty much by herself now and same with bed. She’s 83 and she has poor eyesight so she misjudges her footing. She was going down steps and thought the bottom step was shorter than it was, the steps were outside, she fell, hit a garage, hit her head, elbow and hip on cement. This is her 5th fall in 2 years and each time she has broken something. I feel so bad for her. They were initially going home on July 14 but that was out of the question, they are now planning to leave on the 28. I think they will be able to fly home at that time. Thank you for your concern, she’s a trooper and she actually loves staying here…I’m pampering the two of them, so they’re enjoying themselves as best they can…I’m exhausted…and haven’t had time to visit everybody, one more week and then I’ll have time again to stop by and say hello. Boy I guess I had a lot to say!! xo

    • Oh Deb, I’m so sorry to hear that. Your poor mum! I hope she manages to make a full recovery. It’s so hard and such a worry when they get older. I know that my mum (who’s now 88) was always incredibly spritely and despite hip operations and falls in later years was still going to the gym!
Look after yourself Deb, as well as your mum and dad. These are the times, tough as they are, that bring us even closer. Hugs β™₯

    • You are so right about that, even though I’m tired, I’m truly happy that they are here and that I have this opportunity to spend even more time with them. Good for your mum, that’s is so great to stay as active as possible, especially after hip operations and falls. I wish her continued good health. The hip my mother fell on had a hip replacement, fortunately she did not due any damage to it. Thank you Miriam, I will get my rest too, otherwise I’m not much help to them!! Thanks the hugs felt great!! Hugs back! xo

    • Thanks Deb, hugs always gratefully received. Mum’s life has completely changed within the past year but that’s sadly another story. Suffice to say, just continue to enjoy your beautiful parents while you have them. xo
