    • Happy thanksgiving Deb!!! At the weekend I am attending my first ever thanksgiving! I’m so excited, my friend is from America and she’s hosting it at her place…I’m to take a plate, I was thinking honey and Oat biscuit πŸͺ but have no idea if what foods are usually eaten?! Is it almost like a Christmas spread? (Excuse my naivety) πŸ™ˆπŸ™Š xx

    • Thanks Hayley!! How exciting I hope you enjoy our tradition. It’s usually a sit down dinner, not a spread. Ok here’s what we have for Thanksgiving, turkey, stuffing – rice, potato or meat, mashed potatoes or sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, biscuits as in dinner rolls, other vegetables may include carrots, butternut squash, or peas. For desserts we have pies…squash, pumpkin, chocolate as in pudding, sweet potato pie or apple pie. Oh you can go to Faye’s site for recipes for desserts, here’s the link https://thechickengrandma.wordpress.com/2016/11/23/thanksgiving-anticipation/
for desserts American style!! She also has a rice stuffing recipe. Honey & Oat Biscuit sounds delicious too and could become a new tradition for your friend. Wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving too!! πŸ˜‰ Have a wonderful time!! xo

    • Lol, you will be thoroughly stuffed and turkey has tryptophan which produces more serotonin in your brain and makes you sleepy so prepare for a nap afterwards! πŸ˜‰ You’re welcome for the link, in addition to wonderful recipes Faye has touching stories too. Wishing you a delicious weekend!! xo

    • It does complete the Thanks Giving for the moment, but we should always be thankful.
Or we can share in both sides at the same time and be grateful for both!!

    • It has been a good day. I’m looking forward to round two with my mom tomorrow and round three with my dad on the weekend. Next week, my hubby and I will be in the same country for the first time in nearly a month, so we’ll get to celebrate our anniversary. I have a lot to be thankful for, Deb. πŸ˜€

  12. This very morning when my body was quite reluctant to wake up, I tought of the weekend ahead and felt grateful.
Oh, I was reading comments and a list of dishes on Thanksgiving table. It sounds interesting, Are you going to spend these holidays with your family?

    • Well good morning Madeeha. Did you read the list of items that Americans have for Thanksgiving? It varies throughout the country too. Tomorrow’s post will show a picture of a chocolate pie I made. Do you have chocolate pudding there? Actually I decided to spend my day at home and rest. I have been working a lot of hours and I’m off from work Thursday through Sunday…so I thought it would be nice and necessary to rest for a few days. It was a lovely day actually. My brother lives nearby and did invite me over but I declined, I appreciated the invite. My parents and sister are at my sister’s son’s house which is a few states away from here. We did speak on the phone today. Wishing you an energized day!! πŸ˜‰

    • Thank you Deb, chocolate pudding, it must have been here but I didn’t try it. I can imagine your joy of having four holidays after constant hours of working, it’s sure a treat and you deserve it πŸ™‚
I read the list. Can you explain me what this thanks giving is about? Like christmas, I’ve this view that this day is also meant to sit together and enjoy family dinner.

    • Oh Madeeha chocolate pudding is so delicious, it’s creamy and yummy good. Yes I have been looking forward to these 4 days off very much so! Thanksgiving Day is a national holiday celebrated in Canada and the United States. It was originally celebrated as a day of giving thanks for the blessing of the harvest and of the preceding year. It is a time when families get together and enjoy a family dinner and each other. You are right in how you view this day. I just chose to rest instead. But am still thankful for all I have, especially my family. Hope that helps. πŸ™‚

  14. Happy Thanksgiving from Oklahoma! Loved reading your list of food for dinner. Yep, you got them all except here in Oklahoma the local traditional way to do turkey is to drop it in a deep fryer and the men sit around and outside and watch it until it is done:) Being a Philly girl myself, we stick with the traditional “oven” baked, heat up the house with sweet aromas and “can’t wait” to eat at my plate! Blessings, thankful for my WordPress neighbors and friends local and around the world:) blessings!

    • Happy Thanksgiving OK!! I’m here in MA! I’ve always wanted to try a deep fried turkey, I love deep-fried food!! Yes you are right about the sweet aromas that fill the house with the turkey baking in the oven…getting up real early in the morning (or even the middle of the night) to put it in and have it cook all day!! Well we can’t leave out watching football too!! πŸ˜‰
Blessings to you too…thank you so much for saying hi and adding to the wonderful joys of Thanksgiving!! xo
