OUR DAILY GRATEFUL POST!

TODAY I AM GRATEFUL FOR PRAYING MANTIS!

THIS PRAYING MANTIS WAS SITTING ON THE HOOD OF MY CAR.  I DID NOT NOTICE HIM UNTIL I STARTED TO DRIVE.  I STOPPED AND TOOK THIS PIC THROUGH MY WINDSHIELD, THAT’S WHY IT’S NOT CLEAR.  HE’S LOOKING RIGHT AT ME!  LOOK AT THOSE EYES!!  I DROVE HOME CAREFULLY, HE MADE IT ALL THE WAY HOME WITH ME.  I THEN GOT MY SNOW BROOM, (BECAUSE IT HAS AN EXTENSION HANDLE AND I WANTED TO PUT A LITTLE DISTANCE BETWEEN US) HE CLIMBED ON IT, I PUT HIM IN MY GARDEN AND NOW HE HAS A NEW HOME.

OF COURSE THE NEXT THING I DID WAS LOOK UP TO SEE THE MEANING BEHIND A PRAYING MANTIS AND THIS IS WHAT I FOUND:

What does it mean when you see a praying mantis?
If you know anything about the praying mantis, it will come as no shock that this insect is the paramount spiritual symbol of stillness and patience. The praying mantis takes its time in all that it does. It takes care to pay diligent attention to its surroundings, and moving through life at its own pace.
SO I AM TO BE STILL AND PATIENT, PAY ATTENTION AND LIVE LIFE AT MY OWN PACE ~ I LIKE IT

Are Praying Mantis a sign of good luck?

In some parts of Africa, it is considered good luck if one of these curious creatures lands on you. The Greek word “mantis” means prophet or seer. Because of the way the insects hold up the fronts of their bodies and position their huge forelegs when at rest, it appears as though they are praying.
DOES LANDING ON MY CAR COUNT?  I THINK SO  😉

MORE SYMBOLISM

Accordingly, the praying mantis symbol chooses to present itself to individuals when they have allowed their busy schedules to overrun their intuition, silencing their internal voice and throwing their equilibrium out of balance. The praying mantis always comes to us when we are internally craving peace, quiet, and calm in our lives.

The praying mantis meaning has a variety of traits: temperance, quietness, awareness, calmness, clairvoyance, patience, mindfulness and innovation. These insects are well known for their pre-strike pose, which is a popular symbol of balance and patience in and of itself.

  2. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that the female bites the head off of the male after they mate. Ahhhh, maybe we don’t want to take this conversation down that trail. 😳

    • I was reading more about them tonight. I was wondering if I could keep it as a pet and you can. Their average life expectancy is 6 months to a year, but some have lived longer. I was concerned about the colder weather coming and didn’t think he would survive it. You have to feed it live insects, not sure I want to do that…hmmm. Yeah I loved what I learned about them. They’re quite fascinating. Thanks Denise! ☺

  6. O My Dear Deb you came across a praying Manti and have explored so much about it. I was wondering if you have come across it’s name here in India.
Now I shall tell you, and you shall be surprised and shall love the name.
It is called as ‘Shiva’s Horse’. Even here it is considered to be lucky and auspicious.
To me the English name Praying Manti is added to my vocabulary. Thanks
You seem to be lucky these days.
O ‘Lady Luck’ parcel some blessings here too, I badly require….😃
    Hugs to your Manti too..

    • Oh wow…isn’t that something..Shiva’s Horse..I love it! I went out this morning to see how he/she was doing and “Shiva” was moving around on top of the bush looking just fine. I video-taped it and shall post it later as an update. I have been very blessed lately and will most definitely parcel some blessings and send them your way…how is your Mom doing?
      I shall give “Shiva” your hugs….I shall tell him/her it’s from another Shiva… 😉
      Hugs,

    • Oh that’s so fine of the Shiva’s horse you got. During our childhood we used to handle it so delicately. You know the way he looks and jumps like as if Shiva himself is on him and goes places. You are lucky to still find him in the garden. Thanks for his hugs and yours too.
My Mom is better this week, she was very serious last week, she has become like a child. Yesterday while I I was feeding her like a child I was remembering the days how she used to feed me when I was a kid.
      Thanks Deb!

    • You should have seen how he clung to the hood of my car all the way home. I tried to go slow but there were some stretches of road where I had to go faster and he’s looking at me with his big bug eyes like OHHHH….but he made it. Yes I went out again this morning and has moved to yet another bush in my garden. He’s seems quite happy and that make me super happy.
Knowing that your Mom is better this week makes me even happier. Yes isn’t it funny how the tables turn and we become the caretaker, I’m the same with my parents now that they are elder. I sent a parcel of prayers and perhaps that is one of the reasons for her improvement…I would like to think so. Sure hope she continues to do well. Enjoy these moments of taking care of her Shiva it makes your soul smile!!
      Hugs,

    • In the traffic while you move in the car it comes and sits on your windshield and looks at you with big bug eyes. I think we know deep in our hearts about this whole situation, which conveys….. I hope you understand….. getting him back in your garden is not ordinary…. it is making me super, duper happy.
Yes definitely it is the parcel of prayers that contributed to her come back. Thanks Deb for that.
I enjoy talking to her like a kid. 😀

  7. I never knew so much about the praying mantis! I am now grateful for that knowledge Deb. We saw one on a car a few weeks ago when visiting our son and his wife. We were in the parking lot heading in to church and one was sitting on a car in the lot.

    • I never knew so much either, Faye. I’m thrilled now, that he/she chose to come home with me. You should have seen her/him hanging on for dear life as I drove home. At one point I was doing almost 50, and he/she was looking right at me the whole time…with great big bug eyes…like help what’s going on!!! I keep checking on her/him and she/he keeps moving between bushes…I took a video and will post it later for an update! The video is much clearer and funny today her/his eyes are green…I wonder if they go black at night and green during the day…hmmm guess I have something new to google…hehe. Shiva told me that in India they are called Shiva’s Horse, so I think I will name it Shiva in his honor! 🙂
