LOOK WHO CAME TO DINNER…

First, I apologize for that clacking noise you hear.  I had a sweater in my dryer which has big buttons on it and you are hearing the buttons hit as it dries.  I did not “deer” leave the window to stop the dryer.  I was afraid they would leave and this was so fascinating to watch.

I don’t know if they are male or female, do you?  Mommy & Daddy, Parent & Child, Siblings??

I was sitting on my couch and I glanced out the window, I do this often to check on the birdies & squirrels, when a deer caught my eye.  My mouth dropped, I grabbed my phone, went over to the chair by the other window and started recording.  I hope you enjoy this as much as I did.  They were out there for 35 minutes….it just got too dark for the phone to capture a good picture.  I really need to install a camera on the back of the house so I can have clearer images!!  😉

As always…here is what the deer symbolizes.

“The deer is linked to the arts, specifically poetry and music in ancient Celtic animal lore due to its graceful form. The Celts also believed that deer were associated with the fairie realm, and would lead troops of fairies – hundreds of them trailing behind them as the stag cut a path through the forest.

Both Celts and Native Americans observed the deer to be savvy when it came to finding the best herbs. These earth-bound peoples would follow the deer to prime herb patches – many of which proved to be highly beneficial in their medicinal purposes.

A quick-list of animal symbolism of the deer may offer a great deal of insight as you are working with the spirit of the deer in your life.

Summary of Symbolic Meanings for the Deer

  • Love
  • Grace
  • Peace
  • Beauty
  • Fertility
  • Humility
  • Swiftness
  • Regrowth
  • Creativity
  • Spirituality
  • Abundance
  • Benevolence
  • Watchfulness

How does this translate into our own life experience?

Just as the deer has an uncanny sense of where to find the green freshness earth provides, we can ask the deer within ourselves to seek out our inner treasures. In meditation or day dream, go on a spiritual hike with the deer. See yourself walking in the woods with the deer leading you into amazing depths within your soul. Each step you and the deer take will lead you deeper into your spiritual knowing, and to limitless treasure within.

The deer (particularly the doe, females) has the capacity for infinite generosity. Their heart rhythms pulse in soft waves of kindness. Match that graciousness by offering your trust to her. She will reward you by leading you to the most powerful spiritual medicine you can fathom.

In China the deer is a symbol of happiness and good fortune. Indeed, its name in Chinese is a homonym for the word abundance.

Meaning of the deer is associated with: The Dawn, The Moon and the direction of the East. If you want to invoke the symbolic meaning of the deer you may have most success and profound experiences while incorporating these associations.

For example, we can honor the deer during a full moon to enhance or draw out some of deer qualities (listed above) within ourselves.

Likewise, honoring the deer with our attention pointed in an eastern direction at dawn will elicit responsive energy too. Nothing fancy (the deer really has no use for pomp and circumsance – her pleasure comes from quiet simplicities) just a solemn nod of your head and a simple “thank you” for deer presence will do.”

WOW!!!

Poetry and music, well now that certainly speaks to me, as do fairies.  I love the idea of seeking my inner treasures.  Have you seen any deer lately?

Thank you!

  1. How lucky were you! A real treat. Had to laugh at the clacking of the button. I wouldn’t have left the window either.

    • Ohhh what a beautiful comment too! It was sooo awe-inspiring to watch…I couldn’t believe that they stayed for so long!!! Hope they come back again. ❤

  3. How exciting! Now you know how to get deer to come visit you – put bird seed on the ground. I loved reading about the meaning of seeing a deer. If you see more than one deer does all that mean it is doubled?

    • It’s funny because I would notice each morning that someone had been around during the night. The rocks were moved some and the seed was all gone and the dirt was disturbed, I wonder if it’s been them all along and they just came earlier today…I’m going to keep and eye out for them. I’ve seen them once or twice walk through the yards but they never lingered and certainly not for that long!! It was soo cool to watch. I sure hope it means that it’s doubled…that would be great! Good morning PJ!! I hope you have a deerlightful Sunday. 😉 ((HUGS!!)) xoxo

    • It probably was them! I hope they will come earlier now too so you can enjoy them. I think if they feel safe they will return more and more. You have a fantastic day too!

    • I’ll let you know if they come back. They must have been coming in the dark before because this was the first time I actually saw them. xo Hope your day was wonderful!! Mine was busy but good! ❤

    • My yard cleaning person came over and finished cleaning my yard. He came last Saturday and started cleaning. He was blowing around my car and apparently set off the anti theft protection and it locked up my car. I had it towed to the mechanic and they told me there was nothing wrong with it. After it set for awhile, it started up just fine. Aargh! Anyway, it has been drizzling rain all day and we really need it. I agree, I think the deer have been coming at night. I hope they start coming more often for you to see them!

    • I remember you telling me about your car and needing to have it towed…oh boy sorry you had to waste your time and money on nothing! Glad you are happy to get the rain. I the deer start coming more often too…loved seeing them!

    • Thank you, but at least there was nothing wrong with my car. LOL! I now know something about my car that I didn’t know before. The mechanic’s shop didn’t charge me anything because there was nothing wrong with it. I was just out the towing cost.

      Liked by 1 person

    • Yes that was great news!! Awe nice of them not to charge you too!

    • Yes, I thought so too. I did have to pay the towing company though. I feel relieved that it wasn’t more than it was.

    • Yeah that’s too bad…but you’re right at least it was nothing and that was all you had to pay…silver lining! 😉

    • Yes! I didn’t know a car would lock up like that to keep it from being stolen.

  4. Great video! We have an outdoor Nest Cam set up to watch all of the wildlife that visits our yard. You can get them at Best Buy and many other stores for under $200. I can’t live without mine… we see possums, skunks, deer, birds, kitties and so much more.

    • Oh that is soo cool. I have a Nest thermostat and I’ve seen the Nest cams…hmmm maybe I will get one…would love to watch the goings on…need to get a spotlight too…or does it have night vision?

      Liked by 1 person

    • It has night vision. Check out my Instagram at Backyard Birdlady and you can see just how awesome these cams are. I need about 3 more. 😀

    • Lol…I’m watching Rudy as I write this…ohhh I need at least one…maybe 3….hehe!! Thanks for the info. So is it mounted on your house?

      Liked by 1 person

    • We have it mounted on the post to my soon-to-be mega bird feeding station. It’s about 18 inched off the ground.. I love it so much. It uses electricity, not batteries like another one I saw. It works on WiFi and I can save 3 hours worth of clips and do screen shots and save clips to my video library. They are so awesome!

  9. That is a beautiful scene. I recognized the dryer right away. I would not have left to turn it off, either. I wonder if the rhythmic noise camouflaged your own sounds and also was not a sudden noise that would scare the deer. It might have been a blessing to all.

    • Hmmm never thought of it that way but you might be right George. Isn’t it wondrous…I was so taken with it all and just was awestruck watching them. I was amazed at just how long they stayed there.

  11. I have been seeing deer like crazy here at Peter and Sarah’s house!! First, I saw a mother and baby and thought that was so cool. Then the next time I saw SIX of them eating their way across the back yards and thought that was unbelievable! The following day, Sarah and I saw 7 of them!! Some with racks on their heads!! I’m in the habit of checking for them now and most of the time I see at least a couple each day!

  12. I have been seeing deer like crazy here at Peter and Sarah’s house! First, I saw a mother and her baby, the next day I saw 4 of them, following day 6 and now the record stands at 7!! Some even have racks on their heads! They have me trained to check for them every time I go to the kitchen window! It’s so cool to watch them! In your video, it seems like the one in the back is on to you and she is sending vibes to the one in the front to be careful! LOL! Isn’t nature wonderful?! Enjoy! D

    • Wow that’s a lot of deer!! How cool and with racks too! Have you told them wow that’s quite a rack…tee hee! Now you know the symbolism of the deer too, how about that. Yeah the “Mama” maybe, did seem like she kept looking my way, unless she was hearing the racket the dryer was making too. The other one was too hungry to care! It was so cool watching them and yes nature is wonderful…I love it!! Thanks love you, xo ❤
Hope you're enjoying your stay at Peter & Sarah's, with little Josie!! She's such a cutie pie.

  13. Wow, that was amazing Deb. They’re so elegant and graceful looking aren’t they? Loved watching them, they seemed so content and peaceful. Lucky you! No deer here, in my back paddock we’re more likely to see a bunch of kangaroos grazing but they’re usually too far away to video. Loved the meaning of them too. Ooh, very symbolic and apt for you. Love it!!! Big hugs to you gorgeous lady. xo 💖🌟

    • I know I was in such disbelief and awe that they were there. Deer are very skiddish and don’t hang around for long at all so I was quite surprised that they stayed as long as they did. I loved how the Mama (?) came through bushes and onto this side. The whole thing was so very cool and goosebumpy….yes the symbolism is fantastic too!! Just wanted to jump on here to say I’m tied up at night for a few nights so we’ll have to catch up in a few days!! Hope your studying is going great, loved your YouTube video!! So very exciting this journey you are on, looking forward to more. Talk soon my sweet friend xo ❤

    • The deer were meant to come visit to remind you of your gifts of writing song and poems I’m sure. So very special. Definitely goosebumps again. 🌟 My studying is going well though I’ve been distracted by a certain person this morning but in a good way. Can’t wait to chat with you again when you’re able to. Thanks for leaving me a comment on my video, I was so excited to see you there!! Big hugs xo ❤️

    • The whole family has been coming by now, Mama, Papa and Baby. It is so magical to watch them…I recorded them again the other night, but it was dusk so the quality and light are not great. They certainly put a smile on my face. ☺

    • I would be grinning from ear to ear! It’s so lovely, and the deer must really trust you. We had a family of Foxes a little while ago it was wonderful to see 🙂

    • Funny you say that, as I looked out my window the other morning a bunny was eating the bird seed and then a fox went trotting by, spotted the bunny and the bunny spotted the fox and ran into the woods…fortunately the fox did not go after the bunny but just continued on his way. I wasn’t sure what was going to happen, so glad it was that!
