THREADFUL!

I have great admiration for sewers (not the underground pipes that drain away water, although now that I think about¬†it, I do admire, or perhaps¬†it’s appreciate, them too)¬†no, those who¬†sew with needles and machines.¬† I can sew buttons and¬†hems.¬† I’ve even made an A-line skirt in high school, it didn’t really fit¬†right but the material was pretty!!¬†¬†I digress, to me it’s¬†an art, a skill.¬† I also admire knitters, again I’ve crocheted and knitted¬†my fair amount of scarves and potholders, but never graduated to afghans (not the hound) or anything as great.

I wonder though, and this is my question today, do they or anyone EVER use that piece of thread that is included when you buy clothing?¬† I can’t bring myself to toss it.¬† I have a bag full of threads to¬†clothes I probably don’t even have anymore.¬† When I first see the¬†packaged piece of thread I think, fantastic!, but only for a moment,¬†then I think huh, I’ll never ever use this piece of thread.¬† Is it even enough?¬† What am I to use it for?¬† A hole?¬† A tear?¬† A hem?¬† Not sure.¬† And then, I go add it to¬†my bag of other threads and get on with my day!!

Please tell me, have you ever used that piece of thread?¬† If so, I admire you too!!¬† ūüôā

Wishing you a threadful day!

Camera Lucida Week 6 Photo Challenge is ~ Journey ~

THE AUTHENTIC JOURNEY
By Deb Cowdrey

You can journey to the mountains
You can journey to the seas
You can journey to the forest
And wander through the trees

wpid-imag0073.jpgYou can journey to the malls
You can journey to the stores
You can try on all the clothes
And wish that they were yours

wpid-imag0334_1.jpgYou can journey to the workplace
You can journey out to lunch
You can journey to a new place
To have a lovely brunch

wpid-imag0638.jpgBut the journey that I think of
The one I have in mind
Is the journey that I do love
And it’s not so hard to find

¬†It’s the journey of the soul you see
The journey of the heart
The journey that is always free
And sets us all apart

The place you find your one true self
Of who you are inside
The place you find your one true wealth
To follow and abide

This journey is a lifelong one
Teaching lessons everyday
And if you listen carefully
It will guide your every way

Full of grace I want to be
With body, mind and spirit
Full of God, He says to me
Be quiet and you’ll hear it

My journey is a life map
I watch how I have spent it
Looking forward, never back
Arriving at authentic!

** TAG YOU’RE IT **

I don’t know if this is a menopausal symptom but it seems I can no longer tolerate tops that have tags!

I have to cut them off, I HAVE TOO!¬† I find them to be so irritating on the back of my neck and upper back, what’s up with that?¬† My whole life, as I’m sure yours too, my tops had tags and they never bothered me.¬† Oh maybe if they were sticking up and out of the top, but not itchy bother.

Now as soon as I put on a top with tags I must take it off and remove the tags.¬† As a matter of fact the shirt I have on right now has a tag that is bothering me…be right back…queue the Jeopardy music…

Ahhh, better!¬† Some tops have tags that are easily removed while others, not so much.¬† I have to be very careful with the teeny tiny scissors I have, I think they are cuticle scissors, not to cut the fabric of the shirt.¬† I have done that, put a nice hole right in the back of the shirt!!¬† UGH…

I wish all tops were tagless, it’s so much more comfortable.¬† I always thought the reason why more shirts weren’t tagless was due to cost, however I was reading an article that stated the printed tag is much more cost effective than hand-sewn tags.¬† “Sewn-in labels have high minimums, very long lead times and are expensive to make. With sewn-in labels you have to plan very far in advance. And, as we all know, they can be uncomfortable to the consumer.”¬† (www.inkcups.com)¬† I’m that consumer they are referring to…

Since that is the case I am imploring the Universe…please no more tags!!!
